How to work out what fits
First reserve fixed commitments and breaks. Add up the task estimates. Compare the two totals before deciding what belongs in today’s plan.
Read the daily planning guideSet your working hours, then reserve meetings, lunch and a realistic buffer. Count each commitment once.
Replace the sample estimates with your tasks. Include preparation and finishing time, not only the main activity.
Compare the totals. If the list is too long, remove work from today’s plan or reduce its scope, then check again.
Eight hours at your desk is not eight hours for tasks.
A 09:00–17:00 day has 480 minutes. Subtract an hour of commitments and 30 minutes for breaks and uncertainty: 390 minutes remain. Plan your tasks around that number.
Available time = working window − fixed commitments − breaks and buffer
Estimates are a planning aid, not a guarantee. This calculator does not connect calendars or create a schedule automatically.
Questions about daily planning
How much buffer should I leave?
Start with room for the interruptions you usually face. Thirty minutes is the example here, not a rule. Increase it for uncertain work or a meeting-heavy day.
Does a fitting total mean my schedule will work?
The calculator checks total minutes. A two-hour task still needs a suitable uninterrupted block, and tasks must fit around fixed appointments. Review the order and gaps before committing.
Can I use it for a night shift or study day?
Yes. Enter the hours you want to plan and reserve your fixed commitments. An end time earlier than the start means the following day; time-zone and daylight-saving changes are not calculated.
Are my tasks saved or added to Sunlet?
No. Entries stay in this page’s memory and reset on refresh. You can use the tool without an account. Creating a Sunlet account starts a separate plan.
